Our story began in 2020, when a childhood friend I had not spoken to since 1994 unexpectedly reached out. She was very sick and worried about her children. During one of our conversations, she told me she needed someone to be there for them. When I asked about their father, she smiled through her words and said, “He is a wonderful man. I’ll leave him to you too.” At the time, I laughed it off, never imagining what life had planned. After she passed, I reached out to Miguel in November 2021 to ask about her. We began sharing memories, stories, and pictures, and what started as a simple message slowly became something neither of us expected. We met in January 2022, and life has never been the same. And now, here we are.
